KUANTAN – The eagerly awaited clash between Indian sub-continent powerhouses India and Pakistan in the Asian Champions Trophy tournament saw the former win 3-2 at the Kuantan Hockey Stadium here tonight.
The pulsating match saw India take the lead through a field goal by Pardeep Mor in the 22nd minute, only to see Pakistan erase the deficit with SR. Muhammad Rizwan also netting a field goal in the 31st minute.
Eight minutes later, Pakistan went ahead with another field gold with Muhammad Ifran Jnr doing the honours.
However, their celebrations were shortlived when Rupinder Pal Singh found the equaliser via a penalty corner in the 43rd minute.
India clinched bragging rights when Ramandeep Singh sealed victory for India with their third goal, a field goal, a minute a later. – BERNAMA
