The heads of delegations are scheduled to sign a joint declaration of the ASEAN Defence Ministers on Maintaining Regional Security and Stability for and by the People at the end of the meeting.
Hishammuddin, when met by reporters yesterday, said today’s meeting was expected to reach a common understanding in addressing constraints faced by member countries, especially in facing the threat of the IS militant group.
He said the meeting would look at methods to unite the member countries’ stance in any situation.
“(The meeting will discuss) how the member states can ensure that ASEAN as an entity can be a bridge to unite us, whether in peace or in the context where we are dealing with a tragedy or disaster,” he said.
ADMM was held here in conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2015 (LIMA ’15) which will start tomorrow. – BERNAMA
