KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is organising, for the first time, an art festival focusing on discarded materials via a sculpture and 3D Art Installation exhibition until Nov 2.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said most of the sculptures exhibited were based on discarded items such as tins, dry leaves and paper bags found around Kuala Lumpur.
“The main theme of the festival is ‘Found in KL’, whereby the artists looked for used materials around the city and its parks to create artworks that portray the lives of the people here,” he said.
The mayor was speaking to reporters at the ‘Art in the Park’ festival at Taman Botani Perdana, here, today.
Ahmad Phesal said the festival which started on Thursday gave visitors the opportunity to appreciate art while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty.
He said the event also included talks, workshops and art activities which were specially designed to enliven the annual festival.
“The festival which also offers the City Mayor Award for the sculpture, external sculpture and product creation categories, targets 15,000 visitors,” he added. – BERNAMA
