TAWAU – The Defence Ministry will repair buildings of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Balung damaged in a Royal Malaysian Air Force Nuri helicopter emergency landing yesterday.
Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Johari Baharum said the repairs would be carried out by the Defence Engineering Services Division (BPKP) of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
“A damage evaluation report will be made before repairs could be carried out by BPKP on all affected buildings,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after visiting SMK Balung today, Johari said the repairs would be carried out as soon as the evaluation report is ready.
The incident damaged an open hall under construction, the roof of two classrooms, canteen, dinning hall and surau.
Yesterday, Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid visited the location and said emergency allocations would be provided to repair the school buildings damaged in the helicopter emergency landing incident. – BERNAMA
