KUALA LUMPUR – Society should appreciate the sacrifices of the nation’s security forces and not make disparaging statements which can hurt the feelings of its members, says Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
The prime minister’s wife said differences in opinion in society should not lead to belittling the sacrifices of the security forces.
“Let not the differences in political ideology, culture and religion make us ridicule and forget all the sacrifices made by the security forces,” she said at the presentation of Aidilfitri contributions to members of the security forces here today.
Rosmah, who is also president of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) said there was harmony and peace in the country because of the sacrifices of the security forces and their willingness to defend the country at all times, including during festive celebrations.
She said their deeds and contributions, including a willingness to be away from their loved ones and sacrifice their lives for the country, were priceless.
“They are willing to serve at the country’s borders, deep in the jungles and the wide oceans, leaving behind their beloved wives and children for the sake of the country,” she added.
At the event, Rosmah handed over about 55,000 packs of Hari Raya goodies worth RM522,500, to the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Armed Forces and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.
Rosmah said as in previous years, Bakti contributed the Hari Raya goodies to members of the security forces in appreciation of their deeds and services to the country.
“We really appreciate their deeds and sacrifices, and in working during the Hari Raya, and this contribution is to show the government’s support and appreciation for them,” added the prime minister’s wife. – BERNAMA
