KUALA TERENGGANU – Apologise or face the law. That’s what Terengganu Syariah Appeal Court chief registrar Wan Abd Malik Wan Sidek has said to Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli.
Wan Abd Malik said Rafizi’s recent statement regarded as slanderous to the Syariah Court institution was an insult to the institution and the judges of the Syariah courts.
The baseless accusation, he said, could also create confusion and reduce public confidence in the Syariah Court institution and degrade Syariah Court judges.
“So, we ask Rafizi to retract the statement or give an open apology. We give him one month to do so before taking legal action.
“The remark is also an insult to the Institution of the Malay Rulers who have appointed the Syariah Court judges and lowers their reputation in the eyes of the public,” he said to reporters at the Kuala Terengganu Police headquarters today after lodging a police report. – BERNAMA
