PETALING JAYA – Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali reported to work Monday, the first working day since Pakatan Harapan took over the government following the May 9 polls.
“Yes, I did. In fact I am now in office doing my normal work,” the embattled Attorney-General said when asked if he had reported into his office.
When asked about newly sworn in Prime Minister’s comments singling him out, Apandi did not want to comment.
Dr Mahathir had claimed that the A-G had “undermined his own credibility” and indicated that several government servants would be investigated for their roles in the aborted investigations into 1MDB.
Apandi had said last week that the Attorney-General’s Chambers did not have any political affiliation and would continue to ensure the rule of law.
“We are legal advisers to the government of the day and at the same time, we are the prosecutor of criminal offences as determined by law.
“We shall strive to uphold the law at all times, irrespective of the political scenario,” Apandi said on Sunday (May 13). – The Star Online
