PUTRAJAYA – About 400 supporters of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim gathered in front of the Palace of Justice here for the second day hearing of his appeal against conviction for sodomy.
Barricades have been set up in front of the building to prevent them from entering the court premises, but some of them attempted to push the barricades, while others shouted at the police to remove them.
However, as at 8.30 am, the situation was under control, with more policemen being stationed in the area.
Anwar, wearing a white shirt, was seen arriving in front of court building at 9 am and then went to meet the supporters who were near the building. He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Federal Court had set two days, since yesterday, to here submissions in Anwar’s final appeal against the conviction and a five-year jail sentence for having sodomised his former personal aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. – BERNAMA
