SHAH ALAM – Selangor has decided to do away with the post of state economic adviser held by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with immediate effect to save on administrative costs.
In a statement issued last night, Mentri Besar Selangor Incorporated chief executive officer Faekah Husin said all state economic matters would now be handled by the Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC).
She said the state economic adviser’s office at Plaza Perangsang here would be closed.
Faekah, a former political secretary of outgoing Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, said SSIC was a one-stop body with trained officers to manage administration, procedures and promotional affairs.
She said the state economic adviser’s office had come under fire since its inception, specifically in relation to the role and contribution of Anwar.
“As such, we feel it is wise to close down the office so his role does not overlap with those of state government officers who have been tasked with managing the economic and investment affairs of Selangor,†she added. – Bernama
