PETALING JAYA – Forty-one products produced by 17 Malaysian co-operatives under the 100 Product Champion Programme will soon make their foray into Brunei, says the Malaysian National Co-operative Movement (ANGKASA).
President Datuk Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the halal food and beverage products, worth RM100,000, would be marketed by Brunei’s Koperasi Samakaya DT Bhd.
“ANGKASA expects the endeavour to reap returns of between 20 and 30 per cent,” he told reporters before the shipment of ‘100 Product Champion’ products to Brunei here today.
Abdul Fattah said following ANGKASA’s success in penetrating the Brunei market, the cooperative movement aimed to export 100 Product Champion products to Japan, China, South Korea and Cambodia.
“This is our contribution to the country as it is a co-operative’s role to increase trade between Malaysia and ASEAN member countries,” he said.
Meanwhile on ACOTEX 2016, Abdul Fattah who is also the One ASEAN Cooperative President, said it would comprise a trade exhibition, seminar and business matching programme.
“ACOTEX 2016, scheduled from August 1-4 in Jakarta, will be a gateway for co-operatives and industry partners to enter into business and leverage on the ASEAN market of 650 million consumers,” he said, adding that 36 Malaysian exhibitors would take part in the four-day event. – BERNAMA
