GOLD COAST – Sweet-faced Amy Kwan Dict Weng (pic) bagged a gold in a day it rained medals for Malaysia in rhythmic gymnastics at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre on Friday.
The 23-year-old Amy dazzled in the ribbon apparatus with a score of 13.200 for the gold.
Diamanto Evripidou took the silver with 12.900 while Koi Sie Yan made it a great day by winning the bronze medal with 12.000 points.
Malaysia won a total of 1 gold, 3 silvers and 3 bronzes making it one of their best outing in the Games.
Amy also rolled a bronze medal in the hoop apparatus with a score of 13.550.
Diamanto Evripidou of Cyprus showed her prowess by winning the gold with 14.850 while Laura Halford of Wales took the silver with 14.000.
It was Amy’s fourth medal after winning a silver in the team and a bronze in the individual all-around.
Earlier, Sie Yan bagged a silver medal in the ball apparatus with a score of 13.400 points.
Diamanto Evripidou of Cyprus took the gold with 13.800 points and Australia’s Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva took the bronze with 13.250.
Sie Yan added another silver in the clubs with a sensational performances to earn 13.850 points.
She lost out on the gold by just 0.1 point to Sophie Crane of Canada. – The Star Online
