PETALING JAYA: The Ampang LRT Line service will be temporarily suspended on the second and third day of Hari Raya, and on July 16.
The suspension is to enable the upgrading of its signalling system.
“Free shuttle bus services will instead be provided, between 6am and midnight, to take commuters to the RapidKL bus hub at Pasar Seni,” said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin.
He said it was decided that the upgrading work be carried out on those days to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
The signalling system was being upgraded to improve efficiency and safety, Ahmad Nizam said.
From July 17, commuters on the Ampang Line will board new six-car LRT trains, commissioned to replace the existing fleet that has been in service for almost 20 years.
With the upgrading, he said commuters travelling from Putra Heights to the Kuala Lumpur city centre would no longer need to switch trains at the Sri Petaling LRT station.
“However, pending full deployment of the new trains in December, alternate trains will make a turnaround at Bandar Tasik Selatan between 7am and 9am and between 5pm and 7pm to cater to peak hour crowds,” he said.
