KUALA LUMPUR – The amount of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan repayments rose to RM146 million in September compared to RM57 million in May, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said the increase was due to several initiatives taken by PTPTN, including the opening of 71 branches nationwide that operated up to 10 pm to enable borrowers to repay their loans.
“Besides, other facilities for the loan repayments included the use of ATM cards, credit cards and debit cards,” she said when replying to a question from Datuk Dr Abd Latif Ahmad (BN-Mersing).
Yap also said that PTPTN had not decided on creating a special loan scheme especially for the disabled.
The existing facility was for all citizens, she added. – BERNAMA
