KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has approved an allocation to the Health Ministry (KKM) for repair work at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru which was damaged in a fire yesterday.
“Repairs can only start after the Fire and Rescue Department has completed its investigation and the building declared safe,” said the Prime Minister in his Twitter and Facebook postings today.
Earlier, Najib had expressed his appreciation of the various parties and agencies for their rescue efforts at HSA yesterday.
They included the Fire and Rescue Department, police, Armed Forces, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, nurses and hospital staff as well as volunteers.
In the 9am incident yesterday, six patients died when a fire razed the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the second floor of the hospital while another patient was rescued. Three hospital employees were injured and are being warded at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Bahru. – BERNAMA
