PARIS – AirAsia Group has again been named as the ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline 2017′ for nine years in a row at the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards held at Musee de l’Air et de l’ Espace Le Bourget Airport, France.
The group also bagged the ‘Best Low-Cost Airline in Asia 2017’ award, while its long-haul sister airline, AirAsia X (AAX) Bhd, took home the ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Premium Cabin’ and ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Premium Seat’ awards for the fifth year in a row.
The Skytrax Awards, held in conjunction with the 52nd International Paris Air Show, are the global benchmark of airline excellence with over 19.9 million customers from 105 nationalities surveyed worldwide, measuring standards across 49 key performance indicators of an airline’s frontline products and services.
AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, said the company was honoured to receive the awards and it reflected the company’s commitment to deliver only the best for the valued guests.
“We must have done something right that makes us deserve to win the award for nine years in a row,” he said in a press conference in conjunction with the Paris Airshow on Tuesday.
AAX Chairman, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, was present to receive the coveted awards, along with AirAsia Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Aireen Omar, and AirAsia X Thailand CEO Nadda Buranasiri.
AirAsia and AAX have won a combined 25 Skytrax World Airline Awards since the awards were introduced in 2001.
