KOTA KINABALU – After a successful coaching clinic session in Kuala Lumpur last weekend, the AirAsia-QPR Coaching Clinic Tour 2014 concluded its journey in Malaysia with a stop in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah today.
According to AirAsia Berhad’s chief executive officer Aireen Omar, the coaching clinic enabled young and aspiring footballers to seek expert advice from professional coaches under QPR’s community programme – “QPR Coaching Clinic Tour 2014â€.
The QPR Coaching Clinic Tour 2014 is part of the football club’s on-going collaboration with AirAsia, the official shirt sponsors of Queens Park Rangers FC.
At the end of every session, a player will be picked and offered a chance to visit Loftus Road in London, meet the QPR first team and enjoy a day at the club’s Academy.
Aireen said the coaches shared their skills and experiences in the game with the participants, and introduced to a training regime which is used by professional level football clubs to enhance skills and competency on the pitch, such as ball manipulation, passing & shooting techniques and other tactical aspects of the game.
The session was held at SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin in Penampang, with participation by young players from the age of 13-16, from around the state.
Also present were QPR’s chief executive officer (Community Trust) Andy Evans and SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin head Nurani Fauziah Derin.
Evans said with the collaboration of AirAsia and QPR’s expertise it was not impossible for a player from Malaysia to earn his wings with QPR in the future. -BERNAMA
