KUALA LUMPUR – The air quality in Shah Alam was at a very unhealthy level as at 1 pm, unchanged from this morning, according to the Department of Environment portal.
The air pollutant index reading at 1 pm was 233, up from 226 at 9 am.
The API for Port Klang, also in Selangor, was at the very unhealthy level for two hours from 10 am but dropped to the unhealthy level (200) at 1 pm.
The API was at the unhealthy level for 31 other areas, among them Alor Setar (141); Langkawi (145); Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (152); Seremban (154); Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pegoh in Ipoh (151); Seri Manjung in Perak (150); Kangar (146); Seberang Jaya 2 in Perai, Penang (150); Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang (153); Sri Aman in Sarawak (156); Banting in Selangor (189); Kuala Selangor (154); Petaling Jaya (187) and Putrajaya (194).
Kuala Lumpur also experienced API at the unhealthy level in Batu Muda (182) and Cheras (155).
Moderate API readings were recorded in 20 areas, among them Muar, Johor (89); Pasir Gudang, Johor (92); Tanah Merah, Kelantan (94); Balok Baru in Kuantan, Pahang (74); Tawau, Sabah, and Bintulu in Sarawak (93); Miri, Sarawak (80); Kemaman, Terengganu (86); Kuala Terengganu (99) and Labuan (62).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
