KUALA LUMPUR – Northbound traffic on the North-South Highway (PLUS) is reported to be moving slowly as at 7pm today due to people rushing back to their hometowns in view of the long Aidiladha break.
A PLUS Malaysia Berhad spokesman said traffic heading from north to south on the highway was smooth.
“Traffic is congested from Penang Island to Permatang Pauh, Bandar Casia to Perai, after the Menora Tunnel to Sungai Perak, Gua Tempurung to Gopeng and Slim River to Sungkai.
“Traffic is also heavy from Bukit Lanjan to Sungai Buloh, from Jalan Duta to Bukit Lanjan, Kota Damansara to Shah Alam, Shah Alam to USJ, KLIA to Seafield and UPM to Sungai Besi.
The spokesman said the situation was the same from Bandar Bukit Mahkota to Bandar Ainsdale, Johor Bahru to the Kempas toll plaza and Singapore to Malaysia.
“Traffic volume is expected to further pick up until midnight,” he said.
Meanwhile, a Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesman said traffic was generally smooth on the east coast highways.
