KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged Barisan Nasional component parties to intensify efforts to face the 14th general election (GE14).
He said they needed to meet the people, especially the poor, and help solve their problems.
He said this could be done by setting up operations centres which provide service to society.
“We hope through these efforts, we can win back Selangor and other states from the opposition,” he said when opening of the Subang UMNO division’s Delegates’ Conference in Sungai Buloh, near here today.
Also present was Selangor UMNO liaison chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar and Subang UMNO chief Datuk Zein Isma Ismail.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid had shown the audience the text of his speech which was quite long but decided to shorten it as his voice was hoarse.
He denied the rumours that he had suffered a heart attack and a stroke.
“I forgive those who spread the rumours…I am still healthy, only tired and have a hoarse voice after officiating eight UMNO Division Delegates Meeting this week.
“I had to see the doctor for a check-up, not for a heart attack according to the rumours which said many people prayed for me to “light out” (die),” he said. – BERNAMA
