KUALA TERENGGANU: Datuk Seri Ahmad Said is now ready for reconciliation and to end his feud with Mentri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman.
The Kijal assemblyman, however, said this would only be possible if Ahmad Razif fulfilled certain conditions.
Among the conditions was for the Mentri Besar to show him some respect and discuss with him matters involving the hiring and sacking of individuals in some government-linked companies (GLCs) in Kijal and Kemaman.
Ahmad, who is Kemaman Umno division chief, also wants Ahmad Razif to rein in his supporters from attacking him.
Asked if he was still insisting that Ahmad Razif step down, Ahmad repeated that he wanted to see an end to the bad blood between them.
“I want to see if the Mentri Besar is sincere or not.
“My conditions are simple and easy.
“The Mentri Besar must re-look the hiring and termination of certain individuals from certain GLCs just because they were said to be Ahmad Said’s friends,” Ahmad said when contacted yesterday.
“This matter is not about me. My time is over.
“The most important thing now is to solve the issues of the rakyat and the internal feud,” he said, adding that he wanted to see how sincere everyone was.
Ahmad also said that he had heard of attempts by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to help resolve the issue.
Ahmad added that he would want to see the initiatives taken before the Sept 19 Kemaman Umno division meeting.
“I will see what happens and will call for a press conference to make an announcement before the meeting,” he said.
In response, Ahmad Razif said the state government was sincere in wanting to end the internal crisis once and for all.
“What we want is, like I have said on many occasions, to move forward for the sake of the state and the people.
“If he (Ahmad) has any conditions or issues, we can always meet up and discuss.
“All his conditions will be considered,” Ahmad Razif said in a WhatsApp message yesterday.
