JOHOR BAHRU – The mother of the Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has died of old age in Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital near Batu Pahat this evening.
Ahmad who is the third of five siblings, received the sad news on his 82-year-old mother, Aminah Sabran while on the way to the hospital after attending the announcement of Barisan Nasional (BN ) candidates for the 14th general election at Johor UMNO headquarters here today.
He had just been named by Johor BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as the candidate for Pontian.
“Datuk Seri has been coming back and forth to the hospital everyday to see his mother but in the past two to three days, the condition of his mother became critical and all family members had been alerted on her condition,” the media officer of deputy minister, Amran Zakaria said when contacted by Bernama here.
Ahmad who is also UMNO Information Technology Bureau chairman, announced in his Twitter account that his mother would be laid to rest in Kampung Lubok Sipat, near Pontian.
However, it was learned that the body of his mother was still in the hospital.
The late Aminah left behind five children and 15 grandchildren. – BERNAMA
