KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah today received the credentials of eight foreign representatives to Malaysia in a ceremony at the Istana Negara.
The event involved Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner Alaihuddin Mohd Taha, Victoria Marguerite Treadell of the United Kingdom, and K. V. Vanu Gopala Menon of Singapore.
The foreign ambassadors who handed over their letters of appointment were Pham Cao Phong of Vietnam, Fatou Mas Jobe Njie (Gambia), Murad Askarov (Uzbekistan), Christophe Penot (France) and Basak Turkoglu (Turkey).
Tuanku Abdul Halim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah then consented to give an audience to the eight representatives together.
His Majesty also consented to hand over the letters of appointment of six would-be Malaysian ambassadors.
They were Datuk Zainuddin Yahya who would be posted to China; Datuk Nafisah Mohamed (Belgium); Datuk Ahmad Izlan Idris (Japan); Mustafa Mansor (Sudan); Khairi Omar (Cuba); and, Mohd Hanif Abdul Rahman (Myanmar).
Also present was International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Othman Hashim. – BERNAMA
