KUALA LUMPUR – Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah today declared open the Ar-Rahah Mosque, Kampung Kerinchi here.
The mosque, built based on the concept of a modern contemporary Islamic structure, began construction on April 14, 2010 and was fully completed in October 2012 at a cost of RM10.6 million.
The mosque is named after Tun Rahah Mohd Noah, the mother of its construction fund donor, Datuk Seri Mohd Nazir Tun Razak. She is also the mother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Ar-Rahah Mosque is built on a 1.74-ha site and has the capacity to accomodate 2,500 worshippers at any one time.
Tuanku Abdul Halim later proceeded to perform Friday prayers at the mosque.
Prior to the construction of the Ar-Rahah Mosque, the residents in Kampung Kerinchi and its vicinity performed Friday prayers at the Ikhlasiah Mosque, which is about two kms from the new mosque, and Al-Rahman Mosque, about three kms away. – BERNAMA
