AFC Cup: Pahang Fail To Make Headway Against Global FC

in Latest/Sports

KUANTAN – In the end home ground advantage did not matter as Pahang were held to a goalless draw by Global FC from the Philippines in their Group G match in the AFC Cup competition at the Darul Makmur Stadium here tonight.

The hosts were in control in the first half but were not able to convert their chances and in the second half came close to scoring in the 53rd minute but Zeeshan Rehman’s header from a free kick supplied by Azidan Sarudin went over the upright.

The Elephants had another chance in the 69th minute but Fauzi Roslan’s attempt was saved by Golbal FC keeper Florencio Jr Gamba Badelic and again in the 77th minute but R. Gopinathan failed to drive home a neat cross supplied by Dickson Nwakaeme.

The match also saw Amani Manuel Santos Aguinaldo being red carded minutes before the final whistle for a rough tackle on Nwakaeme.

Pahang, coached by Zainal Abidin Hassan, won their opening match against Yadanarbon FC 3-2 at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Myanmar last month and will next play South China in Hong Kong on April 15. – BERNAMA
