KUALA LUMPUR – In AFC Cup action last night, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) escaped with a last-gasp 1-0 win over Singaporean club Balestier Khalsa FC at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
The Group F fixture’s only goal was scored by Mohd Asraruddin Putra Omar in the 92nd minute, giving his team three vital points.
The through ball by Harris Harun was controlled well by Asaruddin who shot with his left foot to score the winning goal past home goalkeeper, Zaiful Nizam Abdullah.
The Southern Tigers, who thrashed Indian club Kingfisher East Bengal 4-1 in the previous match at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin on Feb 24, now sit atop the group with six points.
The game was shown live on TV9.
Bojan Hodak’s team will now face Hong Kong club Kitchee FC at the Mongkok Stadium in Hong Kong next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Pahang who beat Yadanarbon FC from Myanmar on Feb 25 will meet Global FC (Philippines) at Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan, in the tournament’s Group G fixture today. – BERNAMA
