KUALA LUMPUR – Two individuals were arrested at a rally for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here Saturday.
They were Fariz Musa, a PKR central leadership council member, and Adam Adli Abd Halim, a Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris student suspended for three semesters for tainting the institution’s good name.
Both of them were believed to have organised and made provocative speeches at the rally, which took place at around 4 pm.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah said Fariz and Adam Adli were picked up following public complaints.
“Upon arriving at the scene, police found a group of Anwar supporters chanting ‘Reformasi’ and carrying banners bearing slogan ‘Lawan Tetap Lawan’ slogan,” he told Bernama when contacted here.
Zainol said the duo were arrested according to Section 143 of the Penal Code for participating in an unlawful assembly.
On Feb 10, the Federal Court dismissed Anwar’s final appeal against his conviction and the five-year jail sentence for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in June 2008.
Anwar is currently serving the sentence in the Sungai Buloh Prison. – Bernama
