KOTA BELUD – Kota Belud Member of Parliament Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan has proposed that a Parliamentary Consultative Council be set up here to facilitate implementation of development plans in the area.
He said he would discuss the idea with the state assemblymen of Usukan, Tempasuk and Kadamaian which are under the Kota Belud parliamentary constituency.
Abdul Rahman who is Federal Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister, said the council would serve as a platform for local community leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGO) to gather and discuss relevant issues in a more formal and organised environment.
“We will start off by getting federal and state department heads to sit down with local leaders such as village chiefs, village development and security committee chairmen, Imams and NGO representatives who may have questions or wish to express their views on Kota Belud’s affairs.
“In this way, we can strengthen communication between the government and people, and the latter can get a more accurate feedback, direct from grassroot leaders,” he told Bernama.
He earlier met with community leaders and Imams as well as residents at Kampung Lebak Engad here, Sunday.
Abdul Rahman who is also an UMNO Supreme Council member took time to explain to the community, certain issues affecting the district such as clean water supply, development, as well as political developments on the national front. – BERNAMA
