PUTRAJAYA – Organisers of the inaugural 9to5 Run in Putrajaya on May 9 hoped to attract 10,000 participants aged 19 and 40.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the run was initiated by young professionals in the public and private sector.
“This inaugural run is held in conjunction with Labour Day on May 1 and the Putrajaya Youth Festival on May 22 till May 24,” he told reporters at the pre launch of the event at Menara KBS here today.
Since the programme opened for registration two weeks ago, 6,293 youth have signed up. The last date for registration is April 20.
Dazma Shah Daud who is chairman of the Youth Association for Young Workers, a co-organiser of the event said the organisers had prepared lucky draw prizes worth RM500,000.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to flag off the run comprising two categories, 5 km and 10 km,” he said. – BERNAMA
