Australian-born power pop queen Sia is known as the shy, introverted type– she never appeared on camera for her hit songs (e.g.: Chandelier; Titanium feat. David Guetta) but instead turned on the glory to the actors in the music video.
Having scooped up four awards at the ARIA’s last night, the 37-year-old singer received a lt of hate for being a no-show at the country’s most prestigious music awards.
Her absentee was widely criticized on social media for apparently not even filming “thank you†clips – something she clarified on her own Twitter:
However, the raspy-voiced singer then saw the lighter side of things and decided to give away her trophies to lucky fans, in condition they did an honourable good deed.
The first person to respond– and to receive the giveaway– says that he will be helping the homeless at Christmas, and sacrificing his own.
The second said they made a salad for a family in need.
Another mentioned donating money and volunteering. Yup, she’s not even a musician (or Australian), but she bagged herself an ARIA:
And the fourth and final ARIA went to someone who used their employee discount to help someone.
Sia instructed every “winner†to send their address to her manager in 17 days, or the prize will be awarded to somebody else. Or so we presume. Sia’s gesture ultimately shows that her incredible success are contributed by her legions of die-hard fans, thus giving away the awards to them is a dignified symbol of appreciation and gratitude. Way to go, Sia! MYNEWSHUB
