KUALA LUMPUR – The police arrested 808 people for various offences under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (POCA) last year, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
A total of 188 of the 808 were subjected to detention order and 403 to restraining order, he said in posts on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“257 of the 403 were subjected to wearing the electronic monitoring device, while the rest of the cases are still under action,” he said.
Khalid also said that of those arrested, 57 were involved with organising gambling, 18 were pimps and 42 had been held under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM). – BERNAMA
