KUALA LUMPUR – An ‘Op Cantas Khas’ police operation resulted in the arrest of 70 illegal immigrants at the Selayang wholesale market near here early today.
Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmad said 60 men and 10 women from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Myanmar were picked up in the four-hour operation that began at 11 pm yesterday.
“We also detained a Malaysian man who had allowed an illegal immigrant to live at his home,” he said when contacted.
Fadzil said the illegal immigrants were taken to the Gombak Police headquarters for the documentation process prior to being handed over to the Department of Immigration.
The operation involved about 200 police officers and personnel from the Selangor Police headquarters and Gombak Police headquarters.
