KUALA LUMPUR – Seven major roads in the city will be closed to traffic from 6.30am to 9am on Wednesday for the national-level Ma’al Hijrah procession, according to the police.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer DSP S. Markandan said today the roads involved are Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka), Jalan Hishamuddin, Bulatan Hishamuddin, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Perdana.
People joining the procession will gather at five locations – Masjid Jamek at Jalan Tun Perak; Padang Merbok; Dataran Merdeka; Muzium Kesenian Islam at Jalan Perdana and Muzium Negara – and walk to Masjid Negara, he said in a statement.
About 50,000 people are expected to participate in the procession, organised by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim). – BERNAMA
