KUALA TERENGGANU – A woman and her seven-month-old baby girl were killed when a tyre burst, causing the car they were travelling in, to skid and ram into a lamp post at KM65, Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan, in front of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kuala Abang in Dungun today.
In the 1.30pm incident, Nurbani Fartini Ahmad Fanizar, 25, died on the spot while Naira Nur Farzana Mohd Nazrin, who was on her mother’s lap in the front seat, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Dungun Hospital.
The incident is believed to have occurred when one of the tyres of the Honda Accord driven by Nurbani Fartini’s husband Mohd Nazrin Nizam, 25, burst and caused the vehicle to skid and ram into a lamp post.
The impact caused the mother and her baby to be thrown out of the car, which is believed to have been bought three days ago.
Mohd Nazrin only suffered minor injuries.
