60 Kilometer Road Can Spur Development In Marudu

KOTA MARUDU – A road connecting Kota Marudu to the area around Sungai Sonsogon
Magandai will spur development in the area.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili
said the 60km timber trail should be upgraded into a paved road connecting 22
villages with the town of Kota Marudu.

“We have requested that it be included in the rehabilitation programme for
the timber trails such as in Sarawak three years ago, but there was no
allocation.

“The construction of the road will cost about RM130 million and we hope it
will be included in the 11th Malaysia Plan next year,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a briefing on the development
of Kota Marudu by district officer Arnold Joibi to Minister in the Prime
Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, here today during his working
visit to Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Kudat.
