6 Ways To Fake A Good Night’s Sleep

in Woman

Good sleep is the secret to healthy-looking skin. But an eight-hour sleep a day is sometimes difficult to make, especially during our busy days when we have to sacrifice sleep to beat deadlines. The TV ads have been boasting eye products that seem too good to be true. Is there really a way to fake a good night sleep and still look bright-eyed and radiant?

1. Splash Cold Water On Face
No, this is a not a joke. According to Francesca Fusco, M.D., a New York City dermatologist, splashing on cold water to our sleepy face is the easiest way to refresh our complexion. The coolness of the water helps constricts blood vessels, which will give our skin a smoother, more toned look.

2. Moisturize!
What is lost when we lack sleep? Water. That is why it is very important to hydrate the skin with moisturizer that will lock the water into our skin. “With a face balm, any dryness and flakiness will disappear, and wrinkles will be less obvious,” says Ranella Hirsch, M.D., a Boston dermatologist.

3. Have Your Face Drink Milk
Place a washcloth that is dipped in milk and ice cubes for five minutes, then rinse. “The combination of the pH of the milk, plus the cold, makes this brightening,” says Dr. Fusco. To reduce blotchiness, just suck on an ice cube. Again, this is no joke. The top of our mouth contains nerves connected to the blood vessels in our face. By touching the nerves with ice, we are sending them a message to constrict for a smoother skin tone.

4. The Yes Have It
Look Radiant Without SleepThe eyes cannot tell a lie, they say. It’s the first thing that people notice – and people can tell how sleep-deprived we are just by looking at our eyes. Lack of sleep means puffy eyes. To counter puffiness, use eye treatment that contains a mix of peptides and caffeine, which has a diuretic effect. Put it in the fridge before applying under eyes. “Coldness counters puffiness,” says Elise Brisco, O.D., an optometrist in Los Angeles. To open wide the droopy eyes, use an eyelash curler and perk up the face. To enhance the curl, apply two coats of lengthening mascara, adding a little more in the center above each eyeball for even longer-looking fringe.

5. Use Makeup Tricks
Sleep deprivation makes us lost our focus. But try not to look disturbed by not caking on makeup. Instead of hiding your sleepy face behind mask-like makeup, just apply a tinted moisturizer to even out blotchiness then apply a touch of concealer over dark circles around the eyes. Blush brightly using peach cream blush. “Peach tones brighten skin and take the focus away from dark undereye rings while cream formulas leave a slight dew on cheeks, like a ‘flush of youth’,” says Sarah Lucero, global education director for Stila Cosmetics. Then shape up your puffy face by adding a deeper contour just below your blush. Brush a powder bronzer or foundation one shade darker than your skin directly beneath your cheekbones and along the jawline and temples.

6. Stop The Bad Hair Day
Not getting enough sleep is synonymous with bad hair day for most women. To make hair look washed and revived, use a dry shampoo. Mist it on hair roots then blast with a blow-dryer on high heat to loosen up the powder. Afterwards, use your favourite finishing styler to hair and style as desired.
