KUCHING – Six men suspected of involvement in an affray between two groups in front of the police station at Batu 10, Kota Padawan were arrested by a Padawan Criminal Investigation Department team yesterday.
Sarawak CID chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said the case was being investigated under Section 148 and Section 427 of the Penal Code.
He said police brought the suspects aged between 20 and 27 to court this morning to seek a remand order.
Prior to the incident on March 25 around 8.30 pm, the two groups were believed to have come to the police station to lodge their respective reports.
According to Dev, the row actually started at the parking lot at Pasaraya Giant, Batu 10 when one group, angry that the other had earlier refused to give way to their car, pursued the latter right up to the parking lot of the supermarket and intentionally caused damage to the vehicle.
However, he said, no one was injured in the incident which was recorded on video and viralised on social media, and drew some negative comments against police for not doing anything then to diffuse the situation. – BERNAMA
