MIRI – The Sarawak Islamic Religious Department sees a growth in the awareness to obtain halal certification by traders in the state.
Its director, Ismail Mohd Hanis said the department had issued 518 halal certification, of which half were issued to non-Muslim traders.
“A total of 28 slaughterhouses in Sarawak had received the halal certification and out of the total, 23 are slaughterhouses for chicken,” he said in his speech during the launching of the Sarawak qualified butcher convention, here today.
He said the public could get information related to halal certification through the official Sarawak Islamic Council Facebook page. – BERNAMA
