KUALA LUMPUR – All toll transactions at the Penang Bridge, Jitra, Bukit Kayu Hitam (North-South Expressway), Lunas and Kubang Semang (Butterworth-Kulim Expressway) toll plazas will be conducted electronically via the PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAG from Sept 9.
PLUS chief operating officer Mohammad Fuad Khusairi said cash-paying commuters passing through these five toll plazas would have to migrate to the electronic toll collection system as soon as possible.
“To facilitate easier purchase and reload of PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards, highway users will also be able to purchase preloaded RM5 PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards at a promotional rate of RM5 (card is free) at these toll plazas beginning now until 31 December 2015,” he said in a statement today.
Highway users can also purchase the SmartTAG at a promotional rate of RM96 (inclusive of six per cent GST) at all the five toll plazas until Sept 30 (while stocks last), he added.
Mohammad Fuad said Class 1 vehicle users paying toll electronically at the Jitra, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Lunas and Kubang Semang toll plazas would enjoy a 20 per cent toll rebate between Sept 1 and Dec 31 this year.
Penang Bridge users who enjoy the existing 20 per cent toll discount will not be eligible for the 20 per cent toll rebate.
The 100 per cent electronic toll collection initiative was successfully implemented at the Sultan Iskandar Building (2008), Linkedua Highway (in stages since 2009), Kempas toll plaza (2014), Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau (November 2014) and Mambau and Lukut toll plazas on the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (in June this year). – BERNAMA
