LABUAN – The domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism ministry (Labuan office) has conducted checks on pharmacies selling face masks in view of the haze situation in the duty-free island.

It has warned traders not to sell face masks over the government fixed price as it is a controlled item under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Supply Control Act 1961.

Enforcement chief Mohd Fikri Lai Abdullah said five premises were checked during a one-day operation last Friday, with all traders complying with the Anti-Profiteering Act.

The Air Pollutant Index reading in Labuan as at 11am Monday, reported a moderate 78, a slight increase from Sunday (69) and Saturday (54). – BERNAMA
