KUCHING – Sarawak had some 4,800 students studying at the various MARA educational institutes (from secondary school to tertiary education) last year.
State industrial and entrepreneurial development, trade and investment minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said over the past decade, some 7,200 local students had also benefitted from MARA educational scholarships for studies locally and abroad.
He gave the statistics when launching the state’s annual two-day MARA Education Carnival which began here today.
He said besides a UiTM branch campus and three MARA Junior Science Colleges, the state also had two MARA Skills Institutes and 30 GiatMARA Centres.
“With these excellent facilities in the state, our youth must make full use of them to obtain better academic qualification and technical and vocational skills in various fields.” added Awang Tengah. – BERNAMA
