BEYONCE’S pal and collaborator Naughty Boy has revealed the singer was experiencing “raw emotions†while penning her tell-all album Lemonade , which hints at husband Jay Z’s possible infidelities.
The pair have been pals since they worked on their smash hit Runnin’ (Lose It All) last year and the British music producer, 31, has revealed that Bey offered insight into her mindset.
He says: “I spoke to her last year. She was going through the emotions that a woman goes through. It was every raw emotion and every happiness and every sadness. I knew that album was going to reflect that.â€
The theme of infidelity is prevalent throughout and cheating is referenced in almost every song, leading fans to worry the 34-year-old’s six-year marriage to rapper Jay Z is in trouble.
A lyric about going to see “Becky with the good hair†in the song Sorry has caused the most outcry, with US TV star Rachael Ray and singer Rita Ora denying they’re “Beckyâ€. Naughty Boy isn’t speculating about the mystery woman…
He says: “I try not to gossip about somebody else’s business. I’m not trying to read between the lines.â€
Naughty, who was performing at the BBC Asian Network Live concert in Hammersmith, London, admitted he wasn’t bothered that he didn’t get to write for Bey’s Lemonade, with Runnin’ not featuring on the track list.
He explains: “That album is a body of work. I’m sure we will work together again one day. Runnin’ is still getting played and people are still talking about it. My contribution is there.
“She’s performing Runnin’ on the Formation tour and that’s amazing. I can’t wait to catch it when she gets over to Britain.
“For her, it’s nice to go from Runnin’ to Lemonade in terms of the sound. It shows how versatile she is.†– Daily Mirror
