KUCHING – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he would seek some funding to redevelop
a community clinic and an agricultural marketplace in the Mambong constituency.
The prime minister said this followed requests submitted to him when meeting
the Bidayuh community at Kampung Sungai Duuh in the constituency.
He noted that the Bidayuh lived in harmony with other races in the country,
and this proved that policies touching on multi-racial coexistence backed by the
Barisan Nasional had been successful.
“Although Bidayuh is a minority ethnic group, they are well represented in
the country with one minister, two deputy ministers and six were state
assemblymen (in Sarawak),” he said at a community hall in Kampung Sungai Duuh,
Najib said his visit to the constituency today also coincided with the
birthday of the BN candidate for the seat, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
Dr Jerip is in a three-cornered fight with DAP’s Sanjan Daik and Willie
Mongin of PKR in the Sarawak election on May 7.
