Prices for Macs in Malaysia have dropped, according to website lowyat.net.
In late 2015, prices for the entire Mac line, including the Mac Pro, iMac, Mac Mini and MacBook were all increased due to the weakening of the Malaysian ringgit against the United States dollar.
For example, the entry-level Mac Mini which was RM1,849 before the price hike, broke the RM2,000 barrier to come in at RM2,299.
Similarly, a 13in MacBook Air with 256GB SSD before the price hike was RM4,451 and after, it went up by about RM1,000 to RM5,449.
With the new price reduction, the same Mac Mini is now RM2,099 while the 13in MacBook Air with 256GB SSD is RM4,999.
The price reductions are not equal across the board – generally the lower priced products within the range have seen a reduction of between RM200 to RM400, while more expensive models like the MacBook Pro have been lowered as much as RM700.
The biggest reduction goes to the Mac Pro line, where the most expensive option has been reduced by as much as RM1,600 – however, a high-spec Mac Pro will still set you back RM16,999.
The price reductions are only across the Mac line and does not extend to the iOS or other products in the Apple range.
