PUTRAJAYA – A total of 4,000 children have registered to enter Year One in the 2018 schooling session in all the 14 primary schools in Putrajaya, said Putrajaya education director Roaini Jaafar.
She said the enrolment was 1,000 more than last year’s.
“This is the highest enrolment of Year One pupils in Putrajaya so far,” she told reporters after observing the orientation and pre-school registration for the 2018 schooling session at SK Putrajaya Presint 11 (2) here today.
She said SK Putrajaya Presint 5 (1) recorded the highest enrolment with 400 pupils, forcing the school to open 11 classes for the new intake.
Roaini said the significant increase in student enrolment in Putrajaya this year was due to the steep increase in the population, with several new housing projects having come up including under the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing programme.
She said the schools in Putrajaya were able to cope with the increase. – BERNAMA
