KOTA BHARU – Three suspects, all in their 20s, were detained at a petrol station near Grik, Perak at 6.30pm, on Sept 7 in connection with a shooting case at a restaurant in Jalan Pasir Hor, Bunut Payong last month.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said the suspects, related to each other, were believed to be on their way home to Kelantan after going into hiding abroad for fear of being caught.
“The three suspects were detained following the admission of a man detained on Aug 28 that he had brought the suspects to Perak. Subsequently, the state police carried out an operation with Bukit Aman and the Perak police to track down the suspects.
“Following intelligence work and tip off from the public, the suspects were successfully detained,” he told reporters during a press conference at the state’s police contingent headquarters, here today.
“Investigations also revealed that the suspects targeted a man known as ‘Piji Buta’ (Blind Piji), but the motive for the shooting remains uncertain as to whether it was due to revenge or debts.
He said the suspects were held under remand for a week to facilitate investigations and urged ‘Piji Buta’ to come forward to assist investigations. – BERNAMA
