KUANTAN – Three old mortar shells believed to have belonged to the army were found at an open space behind a petrol station in Jalan Semambu here yesterday.
Kuantan District police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said the mortar shells were found by a construction worker near the area, who later contacted the police at 9 am.
“The bomb demolition squad was rushed to the area and investigation confirmed these were old mortal shells used in military training.
“It was also confirmed the mortar shells do not pose any hazard to the populace,” he said when contacted here today.
Abdul Aziz said the mortar shells were later destroyed. – BERNAMA
