ALOR SETAR – The Kedah office of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry seized cylinders containing subsidised cooking gas worth RM30,000 in a raid in Kampung Cerok Bakong Dalam, Baling, yesterday.
Its enforcement chief, Shahrudin Hamzah, said today three men in their 30s were detained in the raid on an unnumbered premises at about 2pm.
He said they found 121 cylinders with gas and 173 empty ones from which the gas had been transferred to 50-kg industrial gas cylinders.
“The syndicate has been operating over the last six months transferring gas from cylinders for domestic use to industrial cylinders for the Sungai Petani and Baling markets,” he said in a statement.
Shahrudin said enforcement officers were tracking down the wholesalers believed to be involved in the activity. – BERNAMA
