MELAKA – Three people were killed in a collision involving two trailer lorries and a lorry at the 221.3km North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading towards south early today.
Trailer lorry driver Salamat Nawar, 53, his assistant, Ferdie Mnune, 26, and lorry driver Ahmad Pauzi Morad, 47, died on the spot in the 5am incident.
Salamat’s son, Zulhairi, 21, who was travelling with him, and the other trailer driver, Norsuhairi Zuldin, 47, escaped unhurt.
Alor Gajah police chief Supt Muhammad Ismail Muhammad Yusuf said firemen, with the aid of two cranes spent about an hour to extricate the bodies from the wrecked vehicles.
He said Salamat was driving the lorry to Johor Baharu from Kuala Lumpur when it collided with the lorries driven by Norsuhairi and Ahmad Pauzi.
The bodies were sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital. – BERNAMA
