KUALA LUMPUR – Police detained three individuals, including a former member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Advisory Board with the title “Tan Sri” in connection with a libelous report by Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said also detained was a woman, who is a member of the Financial and Administrative Secretariat of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (Special Task Force), Attorney-General’s Chambers.
The third individual is a male deputy public prosecutor at MACC who was seconded from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, he added.
He said they were detained this morning.
“Police have recorded their statements on the libelous report by Clare Rewcastle Brown, the editor of the Sarawak Report,” he said in a statement today.
He said investigation by the police also centred on the leakage of government information which had been abused by certain quarters.
Khalid said several officers from Bank Negara Malaysia and commercial banks would also be called to assist police investigation. – BERNAMA
