SEREMBAN – Only three diphtheria patients are still at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here for treatment, while four patients have been allowed to go home.
Negeri Sembilan Health director Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the first diphtheria case, a 41-year-old housewife from Kampung Durian Daun, Rembau, was the latest to be discharged from the hospital.
He said the woman was allowed to go home yesterday.
“Three diphtheria patients still under treatment are two male and a female, aged eight, 12 and 21 years, who are children of the first diphtheria case.
“They are expected to be discharged this week,”he told reporters at the State Civic Bureau Aidilfitri celebration here today.
He said the situation was now under control with no new diphtheria case reported in the state.
Last July 21, six more patients, including two children aged eight and 12, were found positive for diphtheria in Negeri Sembilan, bringing to seven the number of people infected with the virus in the state.
Four of the patients are children of the 41-year-old housewife from Kampung Durian Daun, while the others are staff at the Rembau Health Clinic who treated the family members. – BERNAMA
